Keeping in mind the slogan “Education for a better tomorrow” M A Hashem College started its activities in 1996. From the very commencement of the college, it has become a seat of higher education of the area. The college is now running with mainly three courses as HSC, Degree (Pass) and Hon’s in the discipline of Science, Humanities and Business Studies. Considering the demand of the learners as well as the job market, steps are taken to introduce relevant subjects/courses. Appropriate measures are taken to ensure quality education at every level. It is found that in HSC level most of the students are weak mainly in English, Accounting and Mathematics. That is why the students are classified into a number of groups under guide-teachers so that special care can be taken to them. Guardians are called up very often and discussed their children’s studies. For HSC courses seven formal examinations are taken within two years including two model tests on the basis of whole syllabi during the coaching classes. Besides academic activities, emphasis is given on the co-curricular activities such as sports, scouting, debating, cultural show, study tour etc for the mental and moral nourishment of the young learners. Poor and meritorious students are given financial privileges from the college funds. Students of science group having a satisfactory grade in SSC/equivalent examinations are given special facilities and attention.
Honours courses have been introduced in the department of Accounting, Marketing and Management. Opening honours and masters courses in more others subjects is under active consideration of the authority. All the members of the faculty and the governing body are always found co-operative and helpful for the overall welfare of the college. M A Hashem College is a non-political institute and so student politics is strictly prohibited here as the commitment of the local people. With all these, the academic environment of the college is very soothing and congenial for the development of body, mind and soul of the learners in order to prepare themselves for the future challenges.
